Project Details

The target population for this project is adolescent girls from tribal communities in the Palghar district who are malnourished and lack access to proper healthcare facilities. The project aims to reach out to 2,500 adolescent girls in the age group of 10-19 years and enroll at least 1000 of them in the program in year 1

 
Baseline Survey
A baseline survey will be conducted to gather demographic and health-related information about the enrolled girls. This will help in identifying the severity of malnutrition and other health issues prevalent among them.
 
Health check-ups
Health check-ups Weekly health check-ups will be conducted for the enrolled girls. This will include measurements of height, weight, BMI, and blood pressure.
 
Nutritional Supplementation
Nutritional supplementation will be provided to the enrolled girls to improve their nutritional status. This will include a balanced diet consisting of locally available food items and micronutrient supplements.
 
Health Education Sessions
Health education sessions will be conducted to educate the enrolled girls about healthy eating habits, personal hygiene, and menstrual hygiene management.
 
Referral & Follow-Up
Referral and follow-up Referral and follow-up services will be provided for the enrolled girls who require specialized medical attention.

The project will be implemented over a period of 24 months. The timeline for the project activities is as follows

 
Need Assessment
Conducting a comprehensive needs assessment of the target population to understand their nutritional habits, preferences, and behaviors.
 
Awareness & Education
Developing and implementing an awareness and education campaign that educates adolescent girls and their families on the importance of good nutrition, healthy eating habits, and the negative consequences of malnutrition.
 
Nutrition & counselling Support
Providing individual and group counseling sessions to adolescent girls to help them understand their nutritional needs and develop a personalized plan to achieve their nutrition goals.
 
Skill Building
Conducting cooking and nutrition classes to teach adolescent girls how to prepare nutritious meals using locally available ingredients.
 
Monitoring & Evaluation
Developing a monitoring and evaluation plan to track the progress of the program and make adjustments based on the results.
 
Community Engagement
Engaging the local community, including parents, teachers, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders, in the program to ensure long-term sustainability.
 
Partnership Building

Advocacy & Policy Change
Advocating for policy change at the local and national level to improve access to nutritious food and ensure that adolescent girls are prioritized in nutrition interventions.

The project team will require the following resources to execute the project efficiently. The personnel will be responsible for project planning, monitoring, and implementation. The technology resources will be utilized for data management, health monitoring, and mapping. Materials and supplies will be used for health camps, educational workshops, and nutritious food supplies. Adequate facilities will be required for conducting health camps, training sessions, and workshops. These resources will be used in accordance with the project timeline and budget to ensure successful project outcomes.

Responsible for designing and implementing the nutrition program for adolescent girls and providing training to the outreach workers
 
Medical Officer
Responsible for conducting health checkups, providing medical care and referrals when needed, and monitoring the health status of enrolled girls

Responsible for community mobilization, identifying eligible adolescent girls, providing education on health and nutrition, and conducting follow-up visits

The purpose of materials and supplies in this project are as follows
